In the twentieth century, wool marketing associations were formed to promote the industry and give ranchers a stronger, collective voice in regards to wool legislation. The Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers' Association was established in 1915 with J. B. Murrah of Del Rio, Texas, selected as the first president.
